The only reason they announced it was to get out ahead of Ed possibly winning some games and being kept ala Les Miles. Ole Miss fired Houston Nutt midyear and let him finish and the results were awful. Ole Miss proceeded to get blown out by LSU, Auburn, Kentucky, Louisiana Tech, and MSU.
