I get that it's not easy to switch in the middle of a season. I don't think that is a viable option. At this point I'm guessing we are just going to let Durkin ride it out and evaluate at the end of the season. And yes, I know that we don't have a lot of talent.

However, as someone previously mentioned, my frustration lies in the fact that we line up in basically the same look almost every play and repeatedly take it in the mouth. We rarely blitz. We have three undersized lineman taking on the entire O line basically every play, which in turn leads to getting our backers blocked. I would like to see us be more aggressive because at this point we have nothing to lose. I'd rather see us die climbing than just sitting back, playing vanilla defense and hoping Chance can get a strip. Like Kiffin said we already know the other team will score most likely. Why not put some pressure on them and force them into a mistake?

We don't have to change our defense. My previous posts were more a product of my frustration after Saturday. I think it would be dumb to fire durkin in the middle of the season. But I would like to see us at least try to be more aggressive. Have keys on the field and walk him down to the line more often. He knocked the ever living shite out of Alabamas starting guard a few weeks ago. Send some of our DBs on slot blitzes. I don't have a perfect answer but at this point we know at least something has to change.

Bottom line it is immensely frustrating that we are almost wasting the insane talent we have on offense with a shitty defense. We won't have another corral for a long time. If we had lost the game Saturday, would of us feel different? Because we almost did.

Kiffin has the luxury to have his Dad advising him. I would suspect Monte has forgotten more about Defenses than most of us all combined. He will tell Lane if DJ can build something or not. But I like the idea of bringing more heat because the 3 DL pass rush is about worthless.

Agree with all of this. I noticed on the very first drive we'd have a guy just sitting back on his heels instead of initiating contact on the runner. He would get dragged 4 yards downfield every single time.

And it wasn't just one defender doing that. It was anyone in the 2nd level. Just playing on their heels and waiting for the play to come to them. The whole reason for having 6 people in the secondary is so we can play aggressively.
