I don't think it's just the 3-2-6.

It's linebackers that are faster and better at dropping back into coverage along with secondaries that are used to seeing 4 and 5 reciever sets.

Defenses that are built to fly around the field instead of fighting in the trenches.

It doesn’t help we have a QB with a below average arm. Teams don’t respect his running ability or his ability to throw it past them accurately past 12 yards. It’s a significant flaw. It really compresses the field for the defense. It’s no big deal to give up a ton of yards to our offense because we are 1) gonna have a penalty 2) have a turnover based on volume of plays 3) compressed field when we get to the red zone 4) sp teams screwup.

Odds are, one of the above is going to happen 3/4 drives.

and combo coverages like 2 on 2 matchup zones and 3 on 2 matchup zones

most fans still think they can recognize Ye Old straight man versus straight zone, and in reality they have no clue that they're seeing neither, but a hybrid instead

regardless, I've always been so sick of the media-fueled propaganda of how "fans want exciting offenses", and the OP makes a great point about the boring as hell check downs to five yard dinks and dunks with said "exciting offenses" - many times the younger generation has bought into all that, but I doubt there are many young Arkansas fans right now who'd say our 2021 old style run game is not exciting as hell

young and old, we all love it
