Thanks for the response. Hopefully you can clarify when OU was throwing deep and running it up.

Are you saying OU ran up the score in the first half by throwing while up 42-0 to make the halftime score 49-0?

Are you saying OU ran it up in the second half before "taking their foot off the gas"?

Because I think we covered this already. I mean, how could OU run it up in the second half on 3 passes and 35 runs, with the last pass coming with 10:50 to play in the 3rd Q?

If you did suffer through that game, surely you'd admit OU was actively trying not to score in the 4th Q, as the final TD was a defensive TD in the 3rd Q.

How would you compare it to A&M beating Baylor 73-10 a month earlier when A&M scored 14 in the 4th Q? Care to address whether passers were thrown by A&M late in that game?

You asked if I watched the game, I did. OU was destroying A&M and they had all but quit very early. We had no ability to stop the pass and it was getting ugly fast. OU could name the score and they decided to stop at 77. I agree once it hit 70 OU was trying not to score, I think Stoops realized it was a bad look. Once again props.

Never said A&M was pure when it comes to running it up. All teams do it. It's just not that impressive for a team that is clearly stronger runs it up over a weaker opponent. That was an A&M team that had 5 losses already en route to a 4-8 season. What is far more impressive is when you have a strong team and win a game against another strong team in games that matter.

The point though is the OU obsession with that game and yet you act like that has any relevance that most current players were still pooping in their diapers at that time. You guys talk about that game like it was yesterday and it was the greatest accomplishment of all time for OU. Every school has embarrassing losses if you want to look back decades, it's just weird how you guys obsess over that one.

Interesting you don't want to talk about how you last weeks game or the future. This thread is about how "the clock is ticking" and where things are headed. Might as well talk about how OU sucks because of the John Blake era.

To be very clear, 77-0 has nothing to do with the here and now. I merely questioned you post about OU throwing deep and running it up. IMHO, that didn't happen and the facts of the game support my opinion.

OU, as does every team, has embarrassing losses. I'd never hide from them, and I'd certainly never revise history about them.

What would you like to know about last week's game or the future? I'll give you my thoughts and you just let me know if there is anything specific you'd like my opinion on.

OU's OL needs to come together. Rattler needs stop being lazy with his fundamentals. Safety plan for OU is spotty. LB reads are not always strong. Offense needs more discipline in assignments and pre-snap penalties.

I don't generally worry much about opening games. Beating Tulane 40-35 after being up 37-14 at half is not very satisfying. Show's a lack of "foot on the gas".

As far as this season's future, I see OU about like always. Can win any game, can shite the bed. Might win the NC, might get blown out in the playoff. As has been the case, there is a lack of playmakers on defense, thin at RB for reasons, and the OL might not be good enough. Might win it all, probably won't. Most likely conference champs with possibility of not getting blown out in semi-finals.

That's about the best I can do after week 1.
