Well if you're interested in an honest argument, which I don't think you are, just limiting it to national championships is way too binary of an argument. Obviously.
Texas has a grand total of one national championship since 1970. Are you gonna tell me Texas hasn't had any success since 1970 outside of 2005? Because that's exactly what your post implies.
Yeah, I didn't think so.
The whole A&M hasn’t won a national championship since 1939 dig, albeit still sad, is really just a troll shot on message boards. National championships aren’t the only barometer of success but you don’t want to start going into the other barometers. You guys say Texas has underachieved (which they have), it looks really bad for A&M since 1970.
AP top 10 finishes since 1970:
Texas - 14
Texas A&M -7
AP top 25 finishes since 1970:
Texas - 32
Texas A&M - 22
Conference championships:
Texas - 13
Texas A&M - 8
A&M hasn’t played for a conference title since 1998…

Oh, we have definitely underachieved more. I wouldn't argue that for a second. That was kind of the point of my post actually.
We managed to tread water enough while underachieving and throw a few good to great stretches in there. Enough to keep us in the game until we got our shite together, which may be the case right now.
The potential is there. That's technically an opinion but there are so many observable metrics behind that (wallet, alumni base, facilities, recruiting, loyal/crazed fans, etc.), it's pretty damn close to a fact. To argue that basic point would be pretty silly.
And to be honest, while Texas was obviously better over the stretch, to call the metrics you listed "really bad" is pretty fricking stupid.
