We preach to win every play, every play has a life of its own, etc etc.......but when the 2nd team offense comes in we kneecap them and basically tell them to kill the clock and run straight into what the defense is doing.

I swear he may do it to create the illusion that we didnt play well in the 2nd half

Or there's also a VERY strong possibility is that he's actually working on something that we may NEED in the future: A POWERFUL RUNNING GAME...

Saban's playing 5D chess... I mean that sincerely... I mean, he's the best college coach OF ALL TIME... Let that really sink in... We're witnessing the NBA's equivalent to Michael Jordan...

So, if we ever run into a team or it something happens to Bryce and our passing game isn't lights out, a strong running game will be our lifeline... Also what if we REALLY need to just eat up the clock?

Another strong possibility is he's testing their intensity, LEADERSHIP, and discipline
... For example, anyone who's served in the military or studied in that environment knows that one of the most monotonous yet vital aspects to close order drill is instant obedience to orders... Almost like training to become sleeper agents... I've been present in an auditorium with over 1,000 Marines present, we'd hear the command "Marines, Atten-HU"... Within an instant everyone would freeze and you could hear a pin drop...
We hear Saban preaching, doing the right thing, all the time, with consistency, toughness, discipline, each and every play at all times.... But how many people actually listen?
QB Leadership!!! The QB is Saban's representative on the field... As Saban's rep, is he demanding toughness, excellence, dominating their opponent with the most demoralizing, basic, brutally effective way when it all else fails...

Finally it's just not in Saban's nature to just run up the score... He knows just as well as everyone else does, his teams could EASILY run the score up... He has too much respect for the game itself... He won't arbitrarily embarrass someone... He could have dropped 70 on Ogre last year. But our coach believes in being first class in everything... He wants the University of Alabama, the fans, the boosters, the facilities, he wants everything to be first class and that includes showing class... He's told the players, don't talk trash... You wanna talk, "join the debate" team... Don't think those visiting recruits AND THOSE PARENTS pay attention to those things... Don't think parents see the relentless play on the field, and notice the "yes ma'am's", "yes sir's" when the players address the parents of those potential recruits??

Now, I could be wrong... Wouldn't be the first time.. he might simply just want to just say frick it let's just run out the clock, so we can get out of hear with little to no injuries...

I tend to think that think that the GOAT has something else up his sleeves...

I think he does want to make sure and be respectful in a situation like that - it's who he is.

But, as you noted, there is no way that he just says "well alright try not to score lets waste this 25% of the game". He clearly has objectives, even if he knows that he is putting the guys out there in a difficult situation in terms of succeeding. Is it to see how they respond? Is it to see if they overcome? Who knows, but no doubt it's more than just "alright lets shut it down".

It still pisses me off
