Carrollton (Texas) Hebron linebacker/edge Carson Dean has committed to the Arkansas Razorbacks for the Class of 2023. Dean, 6-4, 235, went public with his decision on Monday, two days after visiting and receiving an offer from Sam Pittman’s program.

Dean, who was recruited by linebackers coach Michael Scherer, chose the Razorbacks over Texas, LSU, Baylor, TCU, Texas Tech and many others. His commitment is No. 10 for the Hogs’ 2023 class, which ranks third nationally and first in the SEC.

Dean, who owns a 10.7 in the 100-meter dash, made his decision after being blown away during Saturday’s prospect day.

"It was my best visit yet,” Dean said Saturday night. “The love and hospitality I got was crazy and I’ve experienced nothing like it anywhere else. I really liked getting to talk football with the coaches and them telling me how I would fit in their program. They are very high on my list."

According to the 247Sports Composite rankings, Dean is a three-star prospect, the No. 35 edge rusher in the country, and the No. 72 overall target in Texas for the 2023 cycle. 247Sports lists him as the No. 54 edge rusher and No. 108 in the Lone Star State.

Dean is the No. 557 prospect in the 2023 class, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He ranks as the nation’s No. 47 EDGE and the No. 101 prospect in Texas.

He chose the Razorbacks — who offered him just two days ago — over offers from Texas, Texas Tech, LSU, Baylor, Ole Miss and nearly a dozen other programs. He Arkansas over the weekend along with a number of other prospects and came away with a prized offer that he decided to pounce on.

The 6-foot-3, 220-pound Dean is Arkansas’ 10th commitment in the 2023 class, joining a class headlined by four-star tight ends Luke Hasz, Shamar Easter and Jaden Hamm. The Razorbacks’ crop ranks No. 6 nationally and No. 3 in the SEC, according to the On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Rankings.
