Regardless of North Carolina's and Virginia's population, those states are more about professional sports than college football.
Have you ever watched a Hokie or Tar Heel football game? Very boring and dull football, even on their best days.
OU is a blue blood, Texas has the population and produces the most NFL talent, and the SEC just can't pass up two historical football powers for VA and NC schools.
Missouri has a larger population than OK and guess what, its all about the Blues, Cardinals, Chiefs, Royals. Mizzou is another brand of boring football that proves population doesn't matter.
