No, I mean Roy Kramer invented the SECCG in 1992. That became the model for all other conference championship games. Why are they necessary? We've seen undefeated teams have to play that game against teams with 2 or more conference losses. Like undefeated BAMA vs 2 conference loss Florida in the very first CCG in 1992. Why? Money.
