Even if he was talented enough and had a great try out, there are so many kids that are known commodities that they wouldn't take a chance on him.
It’s a very accessible game, that some families choose to drop thousands into travel ball doesn’t make the game itself any more or less wealthy overall

No travel ball Means your kid has to be really good and even then every travel ball club has a kid or two that is really good on a version of scholarship for competitive advantage.
HS baseball programs are now more complex and political than football. It's not even close.
Latin American kids are put on baseball as an occupation, it's all they do.
