That's all true but for kids that want to play college or pro ball, it's probably harder to get there if you don't play travel ball. My son plays rec ball where I live and there's no way he'll make the high school team when he's that age. Even if he was talented enough and had a great try out, there are so many kids that are known commodities that they wouldn't take a chance on him.

No travel ball Means your kid has to be really good and even then every travel ball club has a kid or two that is really good on a version of scholarship for competitive advantage.

HS baseball programs are now more complex and political than football. It's not even close.

Latin American kids are put on baseball as an occupation, it's all they do.
