It's about money, and nothing more. Ignoring all the Title IX implications, but it's ridiculous that people will claim there's not enough money to financially compensate the players. Look how much coaches are being paid, look how much the SEC gave each school following a Covid impacted season, look how much ESPN is getting, look at how much the bowl committees are getting. This is simply a way for teams that had no chance of winning a 4-team playoff to make the playoffs so their coach can get an additional bonus for making the playoffs, the bowl committees to make more money by charging more for a ticket to a playoff game, and ESPN to make more money via with ad revenue. Don't believe the line that they're doing this for the fans. That's potentially 3 additional games fans would have to pay premium prices to attend, not to even mention traveling to go to the games.
