JMO (I am old) what you really want to see in year one is a team that is well coached and disciplined much like Coach Dye's 1st year at AU. Players that don't quit when things go bad. The talent has to come for sure but to show you can coach up players is the best sign. We'll see.

I was only 6-7 when Dye was hired (and not an Auburn fan or into football) but I understand he cleaned-house pretty well his first year and that was reflected in the record, but he was obviously building something.

It's got me wondering if Bowden, Chizik and Gus didn't do as much of that and maybe that's part if the reason they had success up-front, but the foundation was never strong and they faltered later in their tenure?
