You guys have less talent than every SEC team except maybe Vandy and Arkansas, last year you probably had less talent than everyone. You also had the best coaching in the SEC. I think that might go to shite since Ellis Johnson is gone.

I agree your recruiting class this year was looking SEC championship worthy in a couple of years. You guys pull off another 3-4 win season you'll say that get shot straight to shite. You guys gotta come back and finish ahead of Arky.

This is reason #1 that I didn't think we would win more than 6 games this season (even with the likes of Vandy and UK as home games on our schedule). We now may not win more than 3. But, Croom usually finds a way of winning at least one game we weren't expected to, so we have that going for us.

I realize this is basically a State/Ole Miss thread, but one game doesn't automatically move Ole Miss above State in the pecking order. Auburn and Bama got croomed, not Ole Miss.

This year Ole Miss losing to State would be getting croomed. last year Ole Miss had better talent and Croom outcoached us. We almost always have better talent and resources than MS. State we are a bowl team this year, MS. State doesn't look like it.

I wouldn't say Croom outcoached Ole Miss, Ole Miss led 14-0 in the fourth quarter. It was simply Coach O being the biggest dumbass ever and going for it on fourth down in his own territory.

Ok. I think croom is a good coach. Ed Ogeron lost to a lot of people he shouldn't have. Nutt is an improvement. I can't ever see MS. State being better than us for a long period of time. We have the money and the tradition.

Oh I agree, I picked Ole Miss to finish ahead of State and to beat State before this season. I agree that Croom is an OK coach and that Coach O was just a basket case, but I don't think Croom won the Egg Bowl last year on his coaching.

Ellis Johnson the DC for state won a bunch of their games. He's at South Carolina now and has already posted a shutout against a BCS team. MS state also got really lucky last year.

Tradition...I guess if you're over 50. The last time I remember Ole Miss being consistently good was around 1970 w/ Archie Manning. Since then I think State during the John Bond years and then in the 90s under Sherrill has a better track record than Ole Miss. Maybe OM has the better resources, but they sure haven't proven it the last 40 years or so.

Ole Miss and State were comprable during the 90's, Tubberville and Sherril. State hit rock bottom sooner than Ole Miss. Over the last 10 years Ole Miss easily has a better record. I could actually be wrong on that but it's a pretty safe assumption because of the Eli Years.

no doubt, State did hit rock bottom, and the eli years were significantly better. I guess as an outside, fairly impartial, observer I just don't see much of a difference year to year w/ the programs of State and Ole Miss. I do agree that Ole Miss has the potential to get a lot better in a hurry than State.

State will be alright. MS has the most NFL talent per capita out of any state in the Nation. Ole Miss just has more money. Money is important.

Yes, I agree that money is important, but the competition for those players is more important.
So while OM has more money than Miss.St. they are competing w/ other schools w/ just as much or better resources than OM for those same players. It just makes it difficult to climb the ladder in the SEC.

We are never gonna be where a program like LSU is. As a fan you have to live with that. I think that most Ole Miss fans would be happy with a perinnial 4th in the west.
