For being such an unknown, it feels like Bernie Bierman should be remembered more. Dude held the record for most title alone for nearly 30 years (won his 5th in 1941, Hayes didn't hit 5 until 1970) and didn't lose the record until Bryant passed him in 1979 (he passed away in 1977, so he never saw his record broken).

Considering that, unlike Alabama and Ohio State, no one has even come close to what Bernie did at Minnesota, it adds to that accomplishment.
