A serious question: what happened to the team that was annihilating everyone in January and running roughshod over the SEC? My only possibility is Bruner getting hurt, effectively eliminating our rim protection and steady, albeit merely adequate inside presence. I don’t think Gary had gotten enough minutes to really flourish yet and it left us lacking in the middle and our entire offense suffered. Is there something else I’m missing? I firmly believe the January version of Alabama basketball was Final Four caliber but the only time we came even close to that was vs Maryland and even that wasn’t a great imitation. The closer we got to the end of the season, the more we played ugly and scratched and clawed and fought our way to wins. What was the difference?
