Different horses for different courses. Is he the best in the modern era? Well as of right now he is.
Would he have had the success that Bryant did back in the 60s and 70s? Maybe not. Its hard for folks to wrap their heads around this idea but back in the day the poll voters would walk through hell covered in gasoline to find any excuse to not award a Southern team the Natty.
It is all purely subjective. If you want to declare him the greatest thing since the invention of oral sex go for it. He is certainly the best, right now, of this era, but of all time includes too many eras and too many coaches.
