Leach is a great playcaller but everyone knew that already.
He is going to find mismatches but yeah how does MSU respond against a team like Ark that is should beat really bad. He will be bowl eligible every year at MSU and may even run off a 10 win season if Saban would ever retire.

With that said, Brennan missed some wide open WR's and on the int that was tipped McMath was wide open and it would have been 7.

MSU defense still has a long ways to go but the offense will keep them in most games.

SEC West will be even tougher when you have to play really good play callers like Leach and Kiffin. Not to mention you know Pittman is going to have the Hogs play really tough hard nosed football.

This is true, but there will be games where his inability to run out the clock will cost him. Ask UCLA.

Casual fans need to realize this about Leach.

He recruited in the 50s at Texas Tech and the 70s at WSU. That does not mean he will recruit there at MSU. MSU has traditionally recruited in the high 20s, with an occasional visit to the top 20. Croom had a couple of top 25 classes in the middle of a 9 year run of finishing last in the West. Athletes are just better all around down here.

So the guys that are out there for MSU right now are quite a bit better than what he's had at previous spots - that means the gap between a Leach MSU team and an elite team is much smaller. This is going to be an interesting experiment.

The addition of Costello completely changes MSU from a team with an interesting scheme and coach to a team that can win some games this year. I did not believe we would win at LSU, but here's what has happened:

1. National attention
2. Buy in from the team
3. Buy in from skeptical fans
4. Buy in from casual fans who had no idea what to expect

A $5 million/year coach at Mississippi State has to work. It was a huge gamble. Now, we may go 1-9, but most people will admit that Week 1 was impressive for the Pirate. Now you take a look at the schedule, and State should be realistically favored in all but three - Bama, Georgia and Auburn. Auburn is at home so there's a fighting chance.
