It's true that they always have been in the locker rooms during the anthem, but would it really surprise anyone if they were on the field for it this year? Especially with the SEC not allowing bands on the field for pregame this year? Them not being there for the national anthem in the past has a lot to do with the pregame band routines. The band does their thing, part of it being the anthem, then most have some formation they make before the team runs on the field. None of that will be happening this year.

I mean, it's always a possibility. But would you automatically assume that in spite of it not ever happening before and ask a dumb question?

I don't think it's ever healthy or smart to assume things are going to happen before they do. However, I do think it's a realistic possibility, and for the sake of the discussion, I do wonder if players/coaches were on the field and did take a knee how it would be received. I'd personally prefer they kept them in the locker room like they always have been to avoid any potential political shitstorm as we've had enough of that already this year.
