Location doesn't matter. We live in the 3rd largest country in the world. Don't make excuses and go find your players. Do what is necessary.

Chad's problem wasn't recruiting. It was the buy in from the upperclassmen on his first day. His practices were confusing and his game management was worse than Nutt. Also didn't help that he was a smartass.

Bert was decent at recruiting but his problem was his alcoholism conflicted with his coaching abilities. 30 minutes before a game would start, he always had a paper cup in his hand. He was most likely recovering from a hangover.

He didn't have the work ethic needed to win here. The only game I saw him actually coach was the 2016 Florida game. But that was only because he took a lot of heat from the thrashing of the Auburn game. Then he lost the last two games of the season that should have been wins. That was crucial as going 9-4 shows more progress and he might not have bombed the next year.

Nutt still holds the worst recruiting class in school history, the 2000 class. It was full of academic issues, problems with the law or complete busts. Some never showed up on campus. It was bad enough that Nutt gave an apology. It was so bad that Nutt panicked and took redshirts off of freshmen in 2001 and one of those was Matt Jones.

Nutt was lazier at recruiting than the others and the only things that saved him were Matt Jones and later Darren McFadden. Without those two, he gets fired after the 2002 season.

Petrino was the best talent evaluator that we had in years. He was very hands even on defense. No one knows what would happen if he didn't get fired. But he wasn't the same coach after he was fired than the one before.
