Latest Updates from Scott Stricklin

Hi Matt,

How are you doing today? We hope your week is going well and that you're staying safe and healthy.

With COVID-19 updates changing every week, Scott Stricklin held a press conference on Tuesday to share the latest updates from the University Athletic Association.

We have included the full 50-minute press conference for you here, but also wanted to share a few of the key points for you below. You can also watch a 4-minute clip from the press conference by clicking the play button above:
• The UAA's number one priority right now is the safety of our student-athletes, staff, and fans.
• The UAA is continuing to work closely with UF Health and several other groups to make college athletics as safe as possible in this COVID-19 environment.
• Scott has continued to see how student-athletes are feeling, including a recent Zoom call with the Florida Football Leadership Committee, a group that consists of around 20 current players. Their overall tone was positive surrounding voluntary workouts and returning full-time.
• Student-athletes in voluntary workouts are undergoing temperature checks, health screenings, wearing masks, and participating in continual education to promote a culture of safety.
• A lot of healthy conversations circulating from the SEC Athletic Directors meeting in Birmingham for what's to come with fall sports. However, with so many unknowns still, the group is working hard to fill in some blanks.
• Our staff is spending a lot of time on different spacing scenarios for Ben Hill Griffin Stadium this fall.
• Virtual recruiting visits have been taking place and have some great benefits.
• Working to conserve our resources to continue providing full resources for our student-athletes, as well as supporting our current staff.
Thank you for your continued support of the Florida Gators! You're the fuel that keeps us going through the good times and hard times. And as always, Go Gators!
