It was called correctly. They stood over the ball and as soon as the whistle blew he snapped the ball

Lost in all of this:

LSU also arguably lost a game because of the old rule..... To Troy.

The rule did not change until Bama was effected.

Except they didn't stand over the ball. If there had been no review the umpire would have stood over the ball and wouldn't have moved until both teams had subbed, and the ref wouldn't have allowed the snap until the umpire was in place. Hard to imagine that all of that could have happened in 1 second. Instead, every official got in place and then the ref called for the clock to start.
