I don't think Saban was pushing this rule. It was a fluke event, it doesn't "help" us in the future. This isn't wanting to slow down the no-huddle or keep OL within 3 yards of the LOS.
They ain't going back and changing the result of the game in 2019. We're just as likely to have this rule hurt us in the coming years than to help us, so there isn't really any selfish reason to want to change it.

I doubt it.
Your point is true, but the reason I doubt it is because Saban never uses all the timeouts so I would just be downright shocked if we got into that situation and didn't have a timeout available.
After Saban is gone, then we are just as likely as anyone else.
