Yes. Antibodies are simply proteins produced by our body that attach to and identify foreign invaders like viruses, bacteria and fungi. They do this by binding to the spike proteins in the invaders shell or cellular surface (in the case of bacteria or fungal invaders) As such, the antibodies are specific to that strain of the virus. If the virus changes is external structure frequently then the antibodies may or may not be effective against the new strain.

There are several lines of defense in our immune system. It takes awhile for our body's B-cells to start producing antibodies in sufficient numbers to serve as sufficient protection. General thought is about 2 weeks. After that, you have "memory B-cells" that live in your bone marrow that can reproduce the antibodies quickly if you are exposed again.
