Ranked wins should be what they were ranked at the end of the season

That doesn't say much about being the greatest team. It just says you played a slightly tougher schedule.

2018 Clemson was a better team than 2019 LSU.

CFP virtually ensures 2 top 10 teams at the end of the year + the Big 8 didn't play a CCG.

There is little doubt that 1995 Nebraska wouldn't have finished 15-0. They crushed everyone they played. Closest game was 2 TDs. And, they absolutely embarrassed UF, who had run roughshod over their SEC schedule and FSU.

Nebraska was well balanced across all three phases of the game. Led by an unstoppable ground game averaging 400+ yds per game coupled with a suffocating run defense only allowing 78 yds rushing per game. They had an NFL Pk, Kris Brown. Their punt coverage team only allowed 5 returns all year for combined net total of 12 yards.

They had an offensive line that allowed zero sacks.

Their avg margin of victory was ~39 ppg (scoring 53.2 ppg and allowing only 14.5) which I believe is still the largest of any 1A team since WWII.

Their 4 wins against end of year top 10 teams shows their dominance:
- national runner-up Florida (62-24)
- No 5 Colorado (44-21)
- No 7 Kansas State (49-25)
- No 9 Kansas (41-3)

They were a powerhouse.

And,2019 LSU was also an extraordinary team. It is certainly an all-time season. But, we are likely too close to it to fairly grade them as the best team ever due to recency bias alone.

Each of the last 3 years has produced the statistically best year for a QB. Burrow is extremely talented and will not take anything away from him. But, sports is trending toward these types of astronomical offensive years. I think team balance has to be a factor when looking at best team ever. And, play has to level off to really understand what we are seeing.
