Texas recruiting improved after he left, but he still brought in top10 recruiting classes and managed to go 5-7 in the Big12 his final 2 years.

So even if there were some truth to it, it doesn't really excuse the level of bad Texas was.


The AD and/or the school administration may have wanted Charlie while some influential boosters did not. Hell, that's what it looks like is going on at USC with Clay Helton. The administration wants Helton while some influential boosters do not.

Texas still pulled in top10 classes while he was the HC.

I guess the USF boosters didn't want him either.

USC just finished 55th in the nation in its last recruiting cycle. Looks like someone should have been paying more attention what the players wanted.
