Yep - also there is no curve for quality of competition. That makes sense in the NFL, but it's hard to do in college (ie a couple of MAC and Sun Belt QBs in the Top 10 QBs). It's also hard to do a sliding scale like that, because it's possible a kid just hasn't been allowed to compete against high level teams and he's being unfairly downgraded for something he can't control.

Using it in unison with something like SEC Statcast metrics gives me a pretty good feel for a guy, but you always have to look at that stuff as one of many tools.

Even in the NFL, PFF themselves don’t completely rely on their own grades. This season they had Stephon Gilmore ranked not even top 15 among CBs in highest grades but they still put him on their All-Pro team. Because their grades can’t really account for level of competition and supporting cast.
