I'm going to be totally honest as a coach looking at his job.. First let me say State did the right thing letting Moorhead go.. You were going in a bad direction and it was showing. That was a huge first step, now you need a STATE guy. Reason be is lets be honest.. The job posting should read like this
How outside coaches see Job posting at State:
Every state around you recruits better in your state than you do, and now your rival has added a top recruiter and the school has 10x more boosters than your school. Also even if you beat ole miss 2 years in a row and go to a bowl game with 6 wins you will be fired in two years. We want 8 wins and a victory over A&M and LSU plus beat Ole Piss .
Thats a hard pill for any coach to swallow unless they are a STATE guy. It has to be a guy loyal as all get our or really has a chip on his shoulder. Napier doesn't fit that bill.. he has other schools wanting him that require less in a easier conference. SEC is hard and its damn hard in the West
