Avg rating is actually the worst way to look at it. If you want want to consider avg rating of your class vs another teams you can only compare your guys vs the other teams top however many guys you have.
You have to get credit for everyone.

Tell that to Clemson when they sign 18, finish in a marginal final position but have the highest average rating per recruit...then whip everyone's arse with that low rated class.

Absolutely. No way we can learn anything by looking at the quality of the players signed. 30 two stars always beats 14 four stars and 1 three star.
