As a punter...UT beat #2 Georgia Tech because Johnny Majors did a quick kick on 1st and 10 at their own 19. The 69 yard quick kick move the ball to the Georgia Tech 12. UT's defense was able to preserve a 6-0 victory.
Majors was also the punt/kick returner (averaging 8.6 yards per punt return and 22.5 yards per kick return in '56. That season, he also punted 26 times averaging 43.0 yards per punt. On defense, he didn't have any interceptions as a Senior...but had 1 each his Sophomore and Junior seasons.
