With Cincy being in the Big East back then, TCU in the Mtn West, and Boise in the WAC, it would have been crazy to see 2 G5 schools in the CFP and then another (I guess) in a NY6 bowl.

The Big East was a BCS conference back then and included multiple teams (Syracuse, Pitt, West Virginia, Louisville) that are now in Power 5 conferences.
