That's the rule, but the gif you posted doesn't show his continuing action. Did he stop? Did he chase down the runner?

Yeah he continued pursuing all the way to the endzone.
The other thing is if your helmet comes off you have to sit out the next play. Pretty sure he was in on the point after attempt though and not penalized for that either.
