If she actually wants to go the med school route than what Bass says is correct. SLU has had some issues in the recent past.

MU has a little more prestige over UMKC but only because of the research dollars. WashU is head & shoulders above all.

If she just wants to major in Bio than don't go to a non-research school (Truman, MoState, Rockhurst). Again MU is held in higher regards but its goes back to go with where offers more.

Also, not that you asked but I wouldn't just go for a straight Bio degree go into one of the specialities (BioChem, bioengineering, molecular, etc) so as to not limit yourself later in your career.

I got my undergrad and grad degree (BioChem) from Mizzou and then went to a B1G school for post-doc and the programs were very comparable from the class work aspect. The differentiator is the ungodly amount of research dollars they bring in.

Eta: actually I don't know anything about Rockhurst so ignore what I said there.

You can actually differentiate yourself by getting a non-bio undergrad major for med school.

Philosophy is an oddly popular one.

Rockhurst could be fine. Just depends on the student. We have a friend who was pre accepted to SLU med and went to Rockhurst. She’s second year med school now.
