Tempest in a tea pot. In a week it won’t be mentioned again until Garrett is reinstated next year. Will make ESPN that week and then go away.
He was great at A&M and that’s really as much as I care about this. Some people seem genuinely offended he did that. Well beyond the control of A&M, students, fans, etc. If this is really that upsetting to anyone because he played at A&M then it might be time to seek professional counseling.

It will not go away, it will be mentioned if he ever does anything even somewhat shady for the rest of his career.
