The primary advantage of Petrino over Malzahn?
Cost and replaceability.
Gus Malzahn will want $7m per year, a large buyout and will be here a minimum of 5 seasons. 5 seasons that I expect would have a record around .500 with a 9-4 being his ceiling.
Bobby Petrino would cost us $1m to $2m with a small buyout and would be easy to replace without a dramatic ordeal. I expect he would also finish with about the same record as Gus, perhaps better.
Petrino is better with less talent than Gus is. I don't think that Gus can handle our situation talent wise.
Now.. I don't particularly want either one of them. A younger guy who has a chance to actually build the Arkansas program is what's needed.

We have the 97th ranked recruiting class right now, who fixes that quicker? Petrino or Gus? Regardless of what you guys think Gus is a name that gets recruits attention. Petrino is one that is toxic and will make recruiting 100X more difficult
