LSU is defending the run better this year statistically but your point is valid. No one is expecting LSU's D to dominate this year I would think, but LSU is still a talented fast Defensive team that could make a few game changing plays.

The biggest hope for LSU is offensively. A more mature line and a better scheme for starters. Needless to say Burrow and the skill guys are also playing much better. Florida dominated LSU's OL last year and this year LSU did the opposite; so it has already showed sings basically the same personnel is playing much better now. Bama defensively is still very good but maybe a step below previous years.

Bama is the favorite for a reason but LSU seems to be better equipped this year to at least be in this game.
