As I said in a post yesterday, the professional odds makers are going to make a game line as close as they can, THEN move it according to the direction the money's going. The professional gamblers ("sharps") usually make their bets immediately after the opening line hits, because they're basically hunting for an odds makers' mistake. And when they believe they've found one, they'll drop the big hammer (huge bet). That's what generally causes the quick move in the opening line.
Bottom line is if you see a 1 1/2 point or better move immediately after the line comes out, you can assume the "sharps" moved it.

Seems that opening line that sharps hit is rarely available to the majority of the betting public. I do like to watch those spreads to see if the public moves it back the other way. Sharps are also known to come in late, Sat. morning or even just before kick.
