Why is there no one in the Arkansas media with the balls to post something like this article questioning Willie Taggart's future with Florida State -

Dig it. The short answer is FSU ain’t the only gig in town in Florida. You wouldn’t bite the hand that feeds you? Or rip up your meal ticket? Or some other tired platitude or idiom if you were covering sports in this state, would you? I wouldn’t.

Correct. And no matter how bad we suck it won't change. The media covers what gets them ratings and Arkansans just don't care about the other instate programs.

People can bitch and complain and threaten to switch teams but they keep on following the hogs. Heck, the other schools fans who hate us follow us. They'll retrweet and laugh or brag about us being scared all the while giving publicity and clicks to the program that they hate. They should focus on their own program and pack their stadiums but they don't.

You look at our stadium as think "Man that's empty! If people ain't going to Razorback games then they must be in jonesboro or conway. This is a football state after all and Arkansans just want to watch good football." But they don't. If the Razorbacks aren't good people don't spend their money or they shift it to another sport.

Here is astate's attendance vs. ull. This game was important because state still was in contention to win their division and make it to the Sun Belt championship game. Their team also needed their fans to rally around them and this is what they get:

Same with UCA - they are routinely ranked in the FCS top 25 and this is the attendance they get:

The only time you see those schools brought up are if they play a similar opponent to the Hogs. It's the same with UALR or Little Rock or whatever they call themselves. Nobody cares about the Trojans unless they beat the Hogs. We've competed against them in soccer (postseason), volleyball, swimming, basketball (exhibition), and baseball x 2 (exhibition and midweek) the only time anyone mentioned us playing was when they beat us in the midweek. Nobody cared that they did nothing special with their season. No postseason was needed. They beat the Hogs. And nobody mentions the times we absolutely destroy them in other sports. The soccer game during the 2018 postseason was embarrassing. Their team looked like they never played before and we were putting in volunteers from the stands at the end of the game. Nobody cared.

For better or worse the Razorbacks rule this state. Maybe those who claim they are tired of it and giving up on the Hogs will find another team but that will only mean that they'll flip the channel on Saturday. No actual impact on attendance and/or donations will be seen at the other programs.

I enjoy going to stAte, UCA, Harding and Lyons games.

Hell, those campuses are much closer to me than Fayetteville.

I was raised a Razorback fan but that doesn't mean I have a dislike of any other program in the state.

This is the only thing I wanted to hear from Chaddick after that stupid fake punt that will win more media awards than he’ll win games:

That's pretty funny. That whole play design was beyond dumb.

I am an Arkansan but that doesn't mean I have a like for any other program in the state. I only care for my alma mater. If the University of Arkansas shut down football I wouldn't find another team - I'd simply move my money.

But, the reason I brought up other schools here was to reinforce and provide reasoning to why we are the only show in town. You might enjoy going to their games but you are one of a handful. Overall, people in this state don't care about the other programs. Which manifests itself through the media and the problems they focus on.

An example-----attendance. There was an article a couple years back critiquing the scanned tickets vs. actual attendance. Here it is: cfb attendance article This caused the state media to critique the numbers and make a big deal about the difference between scanned and actual attendance. However, the only program that the state media focused on was ours. Even some jonesboro homer media used the article to poke fun........ not realizing that they were one of the worst (worse than us) at accurately reporting attendance. In fact, the red pups total attendance for that season was what we easily get for ONE game in a good year (45,631). Did anyone care about jonesboro's god awful attendance or the fact that they pumped up their nubmers. NOPE. Why? Because nobody cares about them unless they can favorably compare them against the Razorbacks.

Another example - wasting money on buyouts or stadium expansion. We are the ONLY program in this state that does not use tax money or student fees to fund our athletic department. Yet when we expand our renovate our stadium everyone in the state - even those who don't donate a dime think they have a right to bitch about money being spent. Never mind that jonesboro wasted money on water falls while their students are forced to pay $300 per semester in student fees and they receive taxes to subsidize their program.

So, yes, we are the only show in town but it's not all that it's cracked up to be.

On a quick tangent -

I used to be against playing instate schools. I liked pissing off other schools because "the mean old Razorbacks" were holding them back by not playing. I also didn't want to give any fan who celebrates Frank Broyles death (astate) the time of day. Or the fans who acted like they won the CWS win we lost against Oregon State (uca, little rock, astate). But now I'm all for it. We need some true rivalries. We need some teams and programs to truly hate and have them hate us back. We also need to galvanize the program. If we lose then the fans of the state of Arkansas can move on and buy new t-shirts. If we win then we need to talk shite and let it be known that only Razorback fans are needed here.

ADD: if you think the "I'm a fan of the state" mentality will fly with other fanbases go to their message boards and talk well of the Razorbacks. Tell them you want every team in Arkansas to do well and you will be in for a rude awakening. They hate us.

Meh.

I grew up in a small town in central Arkansas, played on a very small town football team.

Those small.schools are the ones my friends and team mates went to play for because they weren't recruited by Arkansas. We were and are all Razorback fans but I hope those small schools succeed and the players win football games.

They don't play Arkansas, and for the most part don't recruit against them either.
