Ankle sprains are minor injuries that take time to heal but completely recoverable. Why would you let someone drill a hole in your bones and place foreign materials inside your body when it’s completely unnecessary and now a risk of infection?

While ankle sprains will heal on their own, even moderate high ankle sprains can result in lingering, permanent instability in the ankle, which leads to recurring sprains, especially for athletes. The tightrope procedure provides the joint with a level of stability that may never otherwise return if left to heal in the traditional fashion.

I had a bad sprain a few years back and can't play basketball anymore without a brace because that ankle gets tweaked so easily now. I would have LOVED to have had the opportunity to have a tightrope then. Not for the healing time, but for the added stability.
