I think it’s more so teams can preserve their historic rivals while everyone else can play other schools.

I don’t think the current divisions are set up fairly either but that’s another discussion entirely.

As the thread focuses on cross division games, only two teams have significant history with permanent opponents, why force the others to manufacture their rivalries?

& why should 4 teams end historied rivalries due to those who don't have any?

& WHY should they NOT be counted as an SEC game?
