I’m glad CBS passed on the LSU/Alabama game. LSU was not doing its part to keep it competitive and exciting. Time to move on

It's not a matter of 'protecting' ABC, but rather ESPN. The SEC has a deal for primetime games on either ESPN or ESPN2. ESPN wouldn't want their nightly SEC game going up against the best game from the conference on CBS. CBS feels like they're in a good position with the 2:30 slot. So all three parties are happy. The SEC has the best tv deal (ignoring the money, CBS is getting a steal) of all the conferences.

Even though it has not been competitive, it has high ratings each year.

I am not concerned time of game but was curious overall about how it worked

I going to be flying to Japan do sol anyway
