Dude, you have to understand, I was not a fan of the Orgeron hire. Kirby was definitely the better hire on paper, as was Herman at Texas. Hot young prospects vs a washed up mediocre position coach.

At the time, I thought it was a bad hire. I guess our opinion has changed.

Kirby has UGA loaded with talent and playing at a very high level, but hasn't won the game that matters.
All well and good, but if you are going to hold that against Kirby why is it not fair to hold it against Orgeron? And Kirby won the SECCG. That matters in my book. He won a playoff game. That matters in my book.

Like I said...it is too close to call right now. They are both doing very, very well, and have their teams playing great. But...they are both early in their tenure. I couldn't put one over the top right now.

So like I said, different goal posts. UGA is in the spot of needing to win a title, and LSU is in the spot of needing to change philosophy without collapsing.
Might seem unfair, but I think it's how both will get judged.

We'll have to agree to disagree, then....and that's okay. If Orgeron doesn't win the SEC and go to the playoffs, then the edge would have to go to Kirby.
Miles won a NC. You have to compare their accomplishments to their predecessor for the purpose of this thread. Again...we will just have to agree to disagree.

Against Auburn. LSU has to go through Alabama every year to even get to the SECCG. How has UGA fared against Alabama since Saban took over?

But if you want to compare Smart to O, look at what UGA fans themselves were saying about how it was coached. Most of the Georgia fans I know think that Smart just magically stopped running the ball and started throwing it. As if he just got bored with picking up yards on the ground. Even Smart's own fans seem to think he's stupid.

Personally, I think Smart stopped running the ball due to defensive adjustments made by Aranda, but UGA fans seem to disagree it had anything to do with LSU. Smart just wasn't very smart.
