I agree with you Sunbeam. That's when I heard the worrisome news yesterday my first thought went back to the revolt under Sparky Woods that benches a legacy QB in Wright Mitchell and jump started the career of Taneyhill.

It's almost identical. The feigned injury, the announcement of Taneyhill getting the start. The rest is history.

But think about how Bentley earned his first start and McElwain immediately transferring.

These things happen in college football but I'll say it over and over again, Bentley is the scape goat here. He is not a big time game winning QB but there are 100 other things that went wrong that were not his fault.

Horn putting all the blame on Bentley when Horn let a sure gifted interception slip right through his hands is disingenuous and hypocritical at the very least and what some over there, on that team, are forgetting is that Jake has his posse too .... teammates that are very loyal to him.

How the coaches handle this .... I dunno. Not sure if they are even capable. I get Edwards being miffed too but he dropped two passes he really should have caught.

Rico is not a big time back. He missed some blocks (which is why the coaches are now saying he started and why Mon didn't play) and he (Rico) did not run with authority IMHO.

I think we view this similarly.

My guess is that you could easily get a racial angle on this whole thing. And I'd imagine the whole coaching staff would immediately get one of Fred Sanford's heart attacks (only they wouldn't be joking).

Geez. I know what I am saying, and why I am saying it.

If Hilinski was my kid, I'd tell him to bail out. Maybe all this goes away, or maybe it turns into something nasty.

But I'd want my kid to get an education, enjoy life for four years, and maybe become a pro if that is what he wanted and the opportunity was there.

He can get 1), but 2) could be dicey, and 3) - who knows at this point?

Hilinski can fit into lots of offenses, pro set, Air Raid, different Spreads... I'd tell him to go to Virginia or something, where there is no chance of Emo or coaching insanity/turnover.

This may be my alma mater, but some things aren't worth it. And that kid has options that others would be happy to give him.

First, do y'all recall the presser done during fall camp where Bentley joked around about going over to Jaycee after he made a great play to tell him "good play" and he said Jaycee told him to get the hell away from him and Jake laughed and joked it off as him being the "enemy" during practice bc of his role as the QB? I'm wondering now, in retrospect, if Jaycee didn't actually mean it.

Second, I worry that this whole deal with a certain few players trashing Jake (or supporting it if they weren't the actual person who did it) isn't some backlash bc of Dakereon getting passed over. I'll just say it. Black vs white thing.

Hope to God both of those observations are way the hell off base and I'm certainly not saying there is any validity to either at all but those are two thoughts that immediately came to mind in light of what's gone on since the game.
