Zone is the key to this defense. We have to play zone. Make the QB work to find windows while avoiding the sack. I think when we switched to primarily zone we were way better. Interceptions happen in zone more frequently especially with stacked coverage. You saw it first hand.

I agree. Especially with the teams in the west. Match up zone and using soft coverages against the high octane teams is a must. Keep things in front of our defense and create a little confusion of our own in the passing lanes. This defense needs to feel they have the ability to play fast. Our identity will change quickly.

In the middle of the field sure. Pass off zone was def working. But we don’t want everyone in cover 2. Surtain and Jobe need to stay in man to man on the outside. Safeties need to occupy the middle and deep part of the field. Slot DBs need to control everything near LOS. Safeties pick them up when they go out of phase.
