August 1st: "Spoke to a source this morning and to say Will Anderson has made a good impression so far would be an understatement. We've heard this off and on so far, but Anderson continues to standout. Strictly business on the field. Already setting the tone with his work ethic and others are following and recognizing he's different. That's a mouthful to say in the Alabama locker room for a true freshman. Same source said Will might be the best defensive player on the team right now.

"Another true freshman drawing praise is Drew Sanders. Both he and Anderson were highly ranked, recruited and motivated but it’s good to see it go from paper to the field/ weight room. Source said pretty much the same thing about Sanders as he did Anderson. Strictly business, hard worker and gets after it. He is expected to play a lot this year at this stage.

"Chris Allen and Ben Davis have looked good so far but Sanders/ Anderson will be pushing them. That competition has helped everyone involved and IMO that was a missing concept for last year’s Alabama team. There wasn't 2nd team guys or back ups pushing the starters, so easy to get content. Allen/ Davis have looked motivated as well and that pressure likely will get the best out of all 4 of these players.

"One last note, and since this was such a popular subject last week here and on other boards, Ishmael Sopsher continues to look good so far. My source mentioned Ish without being asked about him as one who is working hard, and showing improvement. He still has a ways to go and needs to maintain that urgency, but it seems he's headed in the right direction."

August 3rd: "We mentioned some of the players coming off of injuries (Moses, Dale, Sanders) but didn’t have an update on LaBryan Ray. Like those other guys, Ray is back on the field and taking part in these workouts. He has apparently changed jersey numbers, which is what led to the initial confusion. And yes, we’re still waiting on Alabama to update the rest of the online roster.

"Speaking of the defensive front, Ray, Dale and Christian Barmore have led the position group, as expected. That’s going to be the case in these walk-throughs -- the veterans are going to be examples for the younger guys. But like Tim said in earlier nuggets, Will Anderson has flashed. Right now, though, Christopher Allen and Ben Davis are still at the front of the line."
