Maybe that's when the last enslaved people in the former Confederate States were freed, but my understanding is that slavery was still legal in the union states, and people were still enslaved until the thirteenth amendment was adopted on December 18th, 1865. The first "Juneteenth" was celebrated in 1866.
Have we really reached the point where talking points and agendas are more important that actual history and facts?
