Intensity kicks up as Crimson Tide works in full pads to face Aggies

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Reporters got a good look at a quarterback containment drill as Alabama continued to prep to visit Texas A&M on Saturday.

The drill was under the direction of outside linebackers coach Sal Sunseri, with the first-team foursome of Terrell Lewis, Raekwon Davis, D.J. Dale and Anfernee Jennings. Although Lewis (knee) and Dale (ankle/foot) are coming off injuries, neither seemed to be limited.

Let's just say Sunseri was in a no-nonsense mood and overall there was a notable increase in intensity during the media viewing periods.

Conditions were sunny and 78 degrees. The forecast for College Station on Saturday are partly cloudy and 72 degrees.

There was no change with the first-team offensive line from the bye week, with Landon Dickerson at center and Deonte Brown at right guard. The second-team line had on the left side Scott Lashley, Emil Ekiyor Jr. and Darrian Dalcourt.

Senior Matt Womack appeared to be held out of contact drills.

Of note, Kendall Randolph went through individual drills as a guard, but was wearing his No. 85 jersey to line up as a tight end.

True freshman defensive end Byron Young has been getting first-team reps alongside Dale and Davis during the observation periods this week.

There was no change with the dime package from the Ole Miss game. Sophomore reserve cornerback Josh Jobe has been practicing this week with a cast on his left hand.

Safety Xavier McKinney told reporters on Tuesday that his thumb was "better."

“It just got a little banged up, but it wasn’t nothing where I couldn’t play, so, of course, I played through that.”

Junior wide receiver Henry Ruggs III helped lead his position group through drills, in his usual spot.
