Mike Shula, while a mediocre coach, is one of those few exceptions where a program was in a better place from the time he was hired to the time he was fired. When Shula was hired in the spring of 2003, our program was a freaking dumpster fire. He was our fourth coach in three years. Shula, for all his faults as a coach, brought stability back to Tuscaloosa and kept us competitive in just about every single game we played - with a few exceptions here and there.
