AUBURN, ALABAMA -- One of Auburn's biggest in-state targets, Jeremiah Wright of Selma High, has said for weeks he wouldn't announce a commitment decision until signing day in December in February.

But now he has had a change of plans.

With Auburn filling up on the offensive line in the 2020 class, the 6-feet-4, 320-pound Wright didn't want to lose a spot so Saturday at Auburn's recruit picnic he committed to the Tigers. For Auburn, Wright is commitment No. 15 and the ninth this summer. The Tigers are now up to 13th in the class rankings.

With Auburn losing every projected starter off the offensive line following the 2019 season, there is a sense of urgency in this cycle at that spot. The Tigers -- and offensive line coach J.B. Grimes -- have responded with six commitments up front, including two this week. Kilian Zierer, the No. 1 junior college tackle in the country, committed to Auburn on Monday.

Wright is rated as the No. 50 tackle nationally in the industry generated 247Sports Composite (he's a 4-star for ESPN). But he isn't locked in at tackle. According to our intel, he could play tackle or guard in college.

Wright chose the Tigers over programs such as Tennessee and Georgia Tech. The Tigers offered him May 22 and they quickly shot to the top of his list. The Auburn staff -- as we've reported for several weeks -- has considered Wright to be a priority recruit and has treated him as such. He has visited them multiple times in recent months, often with several family members in tow.

In June, Wright named Auburn his leader and the Tigers have been on top ever since.

"Because it’s close to home, my family will be able to make it to all my games, all the home games, and see me," Wright said. "They've got a good engineering program, which is what I want to major in. And their players have a great bond. Everything is great there."

According to Wright, he speaks often to Auburn offensive line coach J.B. Grimes and a host of other Tigers assistants. But, he also communicates with Auburn coach Gus Malzahn.

"I sent him a text (in June) wishing him a happy Father's Day," Wright said. "He wrote me back. We text every now and then. He's a great coach. He's cool to hang around. He really likes me and wants me to be apart of the program."

Wright is not an early enrollee.

Auburn needed to get some OLinemen and seem to be pulling them in. Congrats!

Honestly not trolling. Haven’t heard of TN recruiting this guy. They’ve been going after 3 star James Robinson though, also in AL.
