Doubt uou watched much baseball if you're telling a 10 time gold glove CF is less valuable than a 1B.
Compare WAR stats for each...not even close in their primes.

Well lucky for you, this is a metric that is and has been tracked. Andruw Jones has the most defensive runs saved by a center fielder (and outfielder) ever, and by a large margin. That number puts him 4th all time regardless of position.
1. Andruw Jones 236 DRS
2. Willie Mays 183
3. Jim Piersall 175
4. Paul Blair 174
5. Devon White 135
Not to mention he has the highest dWAR of all time, also by a fairly significant margin
1. Andruw Jones 24.2 dWAR
2. Paul Blair 18.5
3. Willie Mays 17.9
4. Devon White 16.1
5. Jim Piersall 15.2
