With the caveat of yes, Arkansas had its worst season of football ever last year and we were pounded by State, I was not very impressed with Moorhead's first year at Starkville.

Handed the best defense in the school's history on a silver platter and an offense that was at least mildly effective he went 8-5 and was very underwhelming. That includes some lopsided losses along the way.

Don't get me wrong... if Moorhead had coached last year's Arkansas team and taken them to an 8-5 record I'd be in favor of giving him a life time contract. But he was handed the keys to a Corvette and drove it like a Ford Pinto.

His offense looked completely lost in the 4 regular season losses. OTOH, in our 8 wins his offense managed to perform as well as any offense Starkville has ever seen. If he had managed to get just 1 TD against Florida and win that game, I don't think anyone would be questioning his ability.

State has never had a coach win 8 games in his first season.....but then, its been over 50 years since we had a coach leave for a bigger job rather than getting fired.
Jury is still out. His offense has to be able to generate some points against quality defenses in the future.

He shouldn't have lost both KY and UF, but we became almost one dimensional with Fitz. There's always going to be changes during a first year coach.
